Chapter Eleven

OMISSION

Maureen offered passive resistance, but otherwise didn’t try and interfere with Joy taking Ben. He was super-excited to be with his Mom, even if he had to get a hair-cut and buy clothes for school. His Mom let him pick out a new truck for being so good. he didn’t notice his Mom getting medicine at the drug store, or buying wine when they were grocery shopping.

They got home and had a little lunch and then Ben ‘rested’ lying down on the sofa watching a Bob the Builder DVD. Joy kicked off her shoes, poured a glass of wine, and took two Xanax. So maybe the morning had been a bit more stressful than she’d had thought, but at least her boy was home.

Now that she was a bit looser, she went in the kitchen and made preparations to have pot roast for dinner. She poured another glass…
