Chapter Thirteen.3

“These sutures are ripe to come out, Joy.” Dr. Katz said as he examined her neck. He was a gentleman in his late sixties with a shocking mop of white hair. His gentleness and soft-spoken manner had always made him Joy’s favorite doctor.

“So Dr. Katz, since my neck is healed, does that mean that abrasions in my vaginal area are healed as well?” Joy asked in a full-blown flush of embarrassment.

“Well, what does your gynecologist say about that?” Dr. Katz asked as he removed the first suture.

“I am so tired of doctors, no offense intended, that I’m just not up to going to one more this week.” Joy said as she sat very still for the doctor.

“Well, I would say get an exam to be sure. But since I know you won’t, I would say take it easy the first time you have sex. You should be healed, but you don’t want to irritate an old injury. Does that answer your question?” He said as he took out the last suture.

“Yes. Thank you Dr. Katz. By the way the therapist I’m seeing said the dosage and times per day you have me on is appropriate. It does seem to really be helping with the anxiety, and I could use another script for it.” Joy spoke in a rush to get it all said while she could.

“Xanax, right? Yeah, let me write you another prescription with several refill to get you though this thing.” The doctor spoke as he wrote the script out and it to her. “Anything else?”

“No, Dr. Katz. This has been more than enough. Thanks again.” Joy said as she tucked the prescription into her purse. She left the office with a grin on her face. She pulled out her cell to share her news with Daniel.
